“Each of us have pain in our past.  We all carry the weight of fear, wounds and scars. From one perspective this collective pain unites us and can bring us closer together.

Medicine takes many forms: a walk in nature, an honest conversation. Sometimes we need a good laugh, cry or scream!

It is ok to not know the answers. First step is to not take ourselves so seriously! Give yourself permission to get messy! That is where the magic happens.”

Layout 024

In art, shape is both elusive and omnipresent. It structures our optical world but is often forgotten. Focus on it is often neglected in favor of color, concept, tactility, and subject. This show aims to bring shape to the forefront, to highlight its presence and dynamic interaction with subject matter and other formal considerations.

Cody Healey-Conelly

at Selenas Mountain in Ridgewood, NY

https://selenasmountain.com/

https://www.syntheticlives.com/

Selenas Mountain is pleased to present Dangerous Narratives, a solo exhibition by Brooklyn-based video artist Cody Healey-Conelly. The artist’s first New York solo exhibition will consist of a single, large-scale, site-specific video installation. Conelly’s immersive artwork is comprised of a clutter of objects symbolic of American excess (assault weapons, iPhones, fast food takeout containers, and other cultural ephemera). The artist’s unique method of projection mapping overlays dynamic video content onto a heap of foamcore objects. The visceral experience of viewing this piece taps into the collective unconscious of fear, paranoia, and uncertainty felt over the past year of living through a pandemic in the United States.
