A limited edition art print in Gary Carter's memory All profits will be donated to the National Brain Tumor Society
It is with great sadness that we received the news last week of Gary Carter's lost fight with brain cancer. The Kid was one of the best catchers to ever play baseball and will always be in the hearts of Mets and Expos fans for his enthusiasm and good nature on and off the field. His death touches close to home for me, not only as a Met fan but also because my boyfriend's aunt died a few months ago from brain tumors and she was the biggest baseball fan I knew. For these two reasons I decided to print a limited edition Gary Carter poster and donate the profits to the National Brain Tumor Society in his and her behalf.
There are only 250 9x12" prints available, all hand printed, numbered and signed, that you can pick up for $20 on our website.
This poster is printed on heavy letterpress paper and looks great both framed or unframed. We recommend using small binder clips rather than push pins to hang unframed art prints. A cheap alternative to framing that looks fantastic!
It is with great excitement that I write you with some news on my debut novel Concrete Fever, as well as information on a Bookbinding for Beginners Workshop I'll be leading later this month.
A NUMBERS GAME. I am proud to report that we are about to surpass 100 copies of the book sold in just under three months. Folks have purchased their hand-stitched and painted copies via our online store (http://secondskinbooks.wordpress.com) as well as at select bookstores in northern Brooklyn.
A WAITING GAME. Due to an increasing number of back-ordered copies, online orders placed today are estimated to arrive in mid- to late-March. Alternatively, in late-February, a limited number of copies will hit the shelves at Word Bookstore in Greenpoint, as well as at Spoonbill & Sugartown on Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg. However, the quickest way to get your copy...
There, I will teach folks how to craft their own (ultra-sleek) notebooks, which they will then get to take home afterward. A hand-stitched, numbered, & painted copy of Concrete Fever will be included with each person's registration.
Thanks for your continued enthusiasm in my work, and best wishes for a strong start to 2012!
